REDDING HQ – Business Manager Chris Darker announced today that UPEC Local 792 has increased their staffing by one additional Labor Relations Representative.
Sara Connors has been hired as a Labor Relations Representative and will be working throughout the local from the Redding Office. Sara has represented both public and private sector members over the years most recently in Oregon. Sara’s education includes a Masters in Advocacy and Bachelors in Accounting. “Besides her vast experience in negotiations and representation, Sara brings additional skill sets to our representation team that we didn’t have that will set us apart from other employee organizations”, said Darker.
Additionally, UPEC has promoted Union Relations Representative Christine Perry to Field Operations Assistant. Christine has been with Local 792 since 2007 working in media relations, member and community organizing and assisting the administration in a variety of needs. In her new position, member contact will be her high priority setting up standing member meetings, membership and member involvement. “We are pleased to fulfill another need of our membership and field operations staff. Our Local has needed this position filled for many years but the economy held us back. Christine is the right person for the job. She is one of a kind”, said Darker.
UPEC had reduced it's staff several years ago for economic reasons. Business Manager Darker said UPEC is back up to pre-recession levels. Darker said human relations has changes substantially in the the past 8 years. "I handpicked a team of professionals who are ready for today's challenges. They are well educated, experienced and enthusiastic about their representaion", said Darker.
