  • Milpitas Units Settle 3 Year Contracts!

    UPEC is pleased to announce that Milpitas Union members ratified new agreements for the "Professional and Technical Group (PROTECH) and the Mid-Management and Confidential Unit (MIDCON) that finally restores the last piece of significant concessions (payment of City PERS) agreed to during the economic downturn when the City also lost a significant amount of revenue due to the restructuring and elimination of its redevelopment agency.

    Employees had previously agreed to pay double digit amounts of the City-side PERS in addition to paying the employee contribution.

    The new 3-year agreements provide for the following salary increases:


    Year 1   -   3.9% PERS restored (paid by City not employee), 1% salary increase.

    Year 2   -   1%  PERS restored, 3% salary increase.

    YEar 3   -   3% salary increase.


    Year 1   -   3.3% PERS restored (paid by City not employee), 1% salary increase.

    Year 2   -   1%  PERS restored, 3% salary increase.

    YEar 3   -   3% salary increase.

    In addition, other language improvements were agreed to including discipline arbitration for suspensions of less than 3 days in duration which previously has been decided by the City Manager.  One concession granted by members is to extend Letter Of Reprimand file cleanup from two years to three years (before a LOR can be removed).

    Last but certainly not least, the City's payment of 100% Kaiser, employee and dependents, will be maintained for the 3 year term of the new contracts.
