REDDING HQ - The Five Counties Central Labor Council (5 CLC) responded today to a request by United Public Employees of California Local 792 to sanction the Shasta County General Unit Strike.
Loel Yerion, President of the 5 CLC Labor Council responded this afternoon in a letter stating that he received a "unanimous" vote of the labor council to Sanction the SCGU strike set for next week. The sanction establishes formal support by the unions who are members of the Council.
Members of the 5 Counties Central Labor Council include both private and public sector unions who have typically supported UPEC Local 792 employees in the past. This includes picket line support, rallies and a commitment to not cross the picket line. Business Manager Chris Darker stated, “We are pleased and thankful for the fast response and the strike sanction approval and look forward to working in solidarity with these unions on behalf of the SCGU members.”
