UPEC Staff and Officers, like all of us, have been concerned about our co-workers who lost their residences in the Carr Fire. The UPEC Board considered this disasterous event and voted to give each victim employed in a UPEC-represented bargaining unit an amount equal to 6 months of dues or fees. This is for employees in the following units:
- Shasta County General Unit
- Shasta County Professional Unit
- Shasta County Superior Court General Unit
- Shasta County Superior Court Professional Unit
- Shasta County Superior Court Supervisory Unit
- Shasta County Mosquito and Vector Control Unit
- Redding Technical Unit
- Redding Fire Management Unit
So far, we have identified 19 employees in this situation and have distributed checks to the 19. If you are, or know, an employee we havent identified please email Cindy at cwalton@upec792.com to let us know.
IN ADDITION! We reached our to our LiUNA Regional Vice President, Rocco Davis, for assistance in asking for donations from our affiliated LiUNA Locals and Councils. Thanks to Rocco and the leadership at those Locals and Councils as of the date of this article we have received $16,500 from our LiUNA friends. We are extremely grateful and will distribute these additional donations equally to our fire victims in the near future once we are sure we have received all that is being sent to us. Thanks Rocco and everyone who has donated!
