UPEC proudly represents 3 City of Milpitas bargaining units: MEA, PROTECH and MIDCON. Two of the 3, PROTECH and MIDCON have been engaged in negotiations for a successor MOU. MEA has another year on its term.
After a lot of effort by the respective teams and UPEC Representative Ryan Heron, settlement was reached and the Milpitas City Council approved the new agreements.
Highlights include:
- 4 year term, 2019 to 2023
- COLA's for all classifications of 5%, 4%, 3%, 3% in July of each year
- Increase in CTO max accrual from 80 hours to 160 hours
- Ability to use CTO in lieu of sick leave.
- Extra 40 hours of admin leave for overtime-exempt MIDCON employees
- Tuition reimbursement increase from $1,400 to $2,000 annually
- Increase in boot allowance and safety glasses reimburement
- New 2% certification pay for Building Inspections
- Enhanced Alternative Work Schedule language to encourage AWS implementation
- Bilingual pay of 2.5%
- 3 hour callback to work minimum (was zero)
This was an outstanding result.
