Our Union Member Friends, Brothers And Sisters Need Our Help!
The U.S. Department of Labor is taking comments on a change in rules that would allow non-union contractors to implement their own training programs. This will have the ultimate effect of undermining the pay and benefits that our fellow union members have fought for decades to build.
Please take the 30 seconds it will take to complete this email letter to comment on this proposed change. We have just a few days to get this done so please don't put it off until later!
Although this proposed change may not seem to affect you directly as a public sector employee, make no mistake it is an attack on pay and benefits that will undermine middle class jobs that our friends and relatives need and pave the way for attacks on public sector employees. Nor do we need less trained construction workers building our schools, dams, highways and other projects where highly trained professionals are essential for safe building practices.
As your elected Business Manager, I don't ask for your help very often. But I have researched this issue and it is very important that we speak out. I consider it an honor and a priviledge to assist fellow workers and union members, even those in a different industry than our own, when they need help. As of right now I am the only signer from our membership. I would be proud to reach 1,000!
