Trinity County DSA Bargaining Team members Jayme Bailey, Ryan Lynn and Samantha Healy, assisted by UPEC labor negotiator Ron Copeland, are pleased to announce the settlement of labor negotiations that resulted in a pay increase of 9% within the next 6 months.
Salary for represented classifications increased 5% on 7-1-21 and will increase an additional 4% effective 1-1-22.
Other highlights include an increase of holiday in-lieu pay from 5% to 5.4%, the current $100/month physical fitness pay to begin the month after new hires pass the fitness test, 5% POST pay for Intermediate and Advanced certificates (maximum of 10%) for specified Correctional Deputy series classifications, 5% for attaining a POST Supervisory Certificate for Deputy Sheriff III (Corporal) and Correctional Deputy Sheriff /Dispatcher III, and, continued meet and confer to establish an IRC 401A deferred compensation plan.
Congratulations to the DSA Team for the patience and persistence it took to reach an agreement with the County to position the Sheriff's Department to be more competitive in a very competitive North State law enforcement job market. It took many meetings and months of negotiations past the last MOU expiration date but the result is proof that patience and persistence can, indeed, pay off.
